- There was once a Priest who lived in this Parish. Every time he passed by Dunkitt Cross he used to see a black cat. At first he did not mind it, but after a time he began to be afraid. It so happened that there was an avenue leading up to his house. Whenever the Priest was going anywhere in the night the servant would open the gate and leave it open until he was coming back again.
One night as the Priest was coming home after attending a sick call the horse frightened as he was passing by Dankitt Cross and the Priest was thrown from the horse and killed. The horse kept going and when he was near the gate the servant heard the noise of the horses feet and went out with a light to show the Priest the way. When he saw the horse without a rider he set out to look for him.
When he came to Dunkitt Cross he saw the dead body of the Priest. He told the people and they brought him home and buried him. For a time his Ghost could be seen(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
