Sligo if a person were throwing out water - (after washing delph &c.) they used to say "Chugat chugat an t uisge salach" pronounced "hugath, hugath, mind yourself - dirty water" fearing a spirit or fairy would be outside the door and that they would fling the dirty water in their faces (his or her face). This was in olden times (my grandmother's)(* See page 75)
They say that long ago people used to die sneezing and that an Irish saint gave the cure for it which was to say "God bless us." (Kilkenny)
(Sligo) People believed that the fairies could take you when you sneeze if you did not say "God bless us", or somebody present should say it for you.
5. If a person fell asleep outside - in a field say - it was reckoned a very bad thing to happen. that the fairies could take him or her.
