“Once upon a time there lived a very clever and accomplished craftsman”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)father the story his wife told him which took them to the end of the road and the old man was pleased. Now it happened that a very wealthy Englishman having heard of the fame of the craftsman offered them a big sum to erect a tower on his mansion which any other lord would have nothing like it and the old man took on the job. The old man and his son found when they were on the job for some time that they were prisoners in the hands of their employer and strongly suspected that this gentleman whose mind was twisted intended that when the job was finished both himself and his son were to be killed and the old man decided that they would never finish the job until they tried every plan to get back home so he told his employer that he could not finish the work without a special instrument he had at home but this man told him he could not trust him to come back if he let him home but that he would send any messenger he would name and the old man said he would be satisfied if he sent his only son to which he agreed. The young man proceeded to get the instrument and when he was over reached into the box the woman helped him in that and locked the box - sent word to the English man(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
