One day three men went hunting with hounds in a field near a fort.

    (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)
the hounds began to come close on her. She kept turning and twisting and tried to get to the fort. She was travelling very fast and the hounds were finding it very hard to keep up with her. At last she dashed into the fort. The men whose hounds were following gave the warning to the men at the other side of the fort. They let their hounds off the leash, so that they might follow the hare when she would come out of the fort. She did not come out. They searched the fort but they could not find her.
The next day they were hunting they left a man in the fort. Everything happened as before. The hare ran in to the fort, and to the surprise of the man who was inside, she ran up a tree. When the other men came in to the fort they had a consultation and they decided to leave her where she was. They believed that she was not natural.
