- (continued from previous page)The potato cake was made of boiled potatoes, flour and salt.
- Mr. John Greevy said that most of the houses long ago were made from mortar, lime and stone and that these houses were thatched. Some of the houses were made of sods and they were covered with sticks and they were thatched with heather which was got from the bogs. There were not any chimneys on those small houses. The fires were built in the center of the floor and the windows and doors were always open during the day so that all the smoke could go out.
