Ar an leathanach seo

  1. The names the leipreachán is known by locally are leipreachán and geanncanach. His height is supposed to be only a foot or so. He is dressed with a green trousers and a red jacket, and a green cap. He lives under the ground.
    In former times a man in this district caught him, and endeavoured to get him to give up his gold. He told him where the gold was, and to go home for a spade but he did not get the gold.
    Leipreacháns are looked upon as friendly beings. They have not helped human beings on any occasions. They have never taken revenge on those who interfered with them. His only occupation is shoemaking.
    The mermaid is supposed to be half a fish and half a woman. People say that she can speak.
    No one has ever been brought ashore. Local families are not connected in any way with mermaids.
