- In this district there is a fairy fort or lios in every townland. Some are round in shape and poised above surrounding land. Others are only just a hole under ground and are called a "Pill talmhan". The strange thing about these forts is that when you stand near one of them you could see another in the next townland. It is believed by the old people that the reason for this ws that when people lived in these long ago they signalled to each other from fort to fort.Some people in the district believe that these forts exist in Ireland(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
