  1. A Local Song

Its a retreat where lovers meet

    A Local Song.
There is a song composed about a place in this district called Johnsport Hill. It was composed by Patrick Feeney who lived in Carnamadda thirty years ago. It was composed by him in America.
'Tis sweet to rove by Johnsport grove
When the sun is going down,
In its golden crest far in the west
    And mountains blue and brown.
As it fades away one last faint ray
    Seems fondly lingering still
Ere nature's hand has raised so grand
    On lovely Johnsport hill.
    II
Is a retreat where lovers meet
    To have a pleasant talk
    In the cool and breeze
    Among the trees
    In this cool refreshing walk
It is sublime in Summer time
    To hear the humming bees
And small birds tune at morn or noon
    Among the verdant trees.
