- Festival Customs
On St. Stephen's Day boys, and in some places grown-ups gather together and dress themselves up in disguise. They put bands of green cloth on their heads and on their backs. Others put masks on them and white sheets around them. They dress themselves up in such a way that no one will ever know them. They take with them musical instruments, flutes, fifes, melodians and small tin drums or old screens. They strike the screens with their hands or with a stick. They dance before every door and play at the same time. Money is given to them for doing this. They divide the money between them, and on their way home they spend some of it on fruit and cigarettes.
There are other important festivals as St. Bridget's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
