Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)the old woman picking up the apples and putting them in their baskets. Just when the fifth verse is finished. Neddy jumps up. The old woman get such a fright that they run off, and Neddy follows them. The first one he catches will be Neddy in the next game.
A very nice game is "The old Widow who came from Athlone". This is played in much the same way as the last game. The child who stands in the middle this time represents the Old Woman. The other children recite:-
Here's a poor widow who came from Athlone
Wants a man and cannot get none
Choose to the east and choose to the west
And choose to the very one you love best.
Then the old widow points to one of the children. The two then go into the middle of the ring and the children recite another verse joyfully:-
Here's a couple got married in joy
First a girl, and then a boy(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
