- In every part of the country, we may see Forts or Lisses, as they are called even to the present day. They are round in shape, and there is either a stone-wall, or an earthen-wall around them, and there is an entrance-hole in the centre of them.
People, sometimes go down a little ways into these forts, and they say that the interior is like a room. Old people say that it was the Danes lived in those forts one time, but that fairies are now the occupants. They also say that there is an underground passage going from one to one of them.
There are seven or eight forts in this locality, and one may be seen from the other. People never interfere with these forts or plant any crops in them, because they say, that it is not right to do so
