- Churns
The churn which was used long ago was called an upright churn. It was wide at the bottom and narrowing towards the top. It was like the churn which is used to carry milk to the creameries now. There was a board on top with a hole in it. A stick was stuck down through that hole having a flat board on its bottom. The stick was lifted up and down, and in that way the butter was made.
The churn which came after was a fixed barrel churn. It was fixed on a stand. There were beaters inside in the churn which were worked by a handle. The barrel churn which came after was a revolving churn. This is the churn(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
