- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)bread was to grate a few potatoes and mix them with flour and wet it with milk or water.
The ingridients used in baking the bread were, baking powder, bread soda and salt.
Bread was baked in ovens and griddles. The bread baked in the ovens was nicer and softer than the bread baked in griddles. The bread was baked once a day and on this account it was used fresh. The way some of the people made the flour out of the corn way to grind it.
There was also bread made from indian meal. This was not known in this country until after the great famine. Milk was generally added in kneading the flour. The flour was worked into the cake in an article called a lasset, and when properly worked and shaped it was put into an oven and fire applied underneath and overhead.- Faisnéiseoir
