About a week before the potatoes are planted they are cut into sets and it is necessary to have an eye in every set. Some people plant the potatoes without cutting them. These potatoes are planted later than the sets. When the stalks are growing the earth is raised to them to keep them sheltry. After a while when they grow up strong they are sprayed to prevent blight. After about a fortnight they are sprayed again. Some people spray a third time. There are different ways of raising the potato crop. People with small quantities raise them with spades and those with large quantities raise them with a plough or with a potato digger.
