- In conversations with old and young I have made a miscellaneous collection of common beliefs and simple customs - apart from the piseogha which meant and did good and harm.
1. A child is never sent to school for the first time on Monday.
2. A workman employed for the year (a servant boy) never took up his new duties on a Monday.
3. The recognised barber of a district i.e. one of the local boys who had practised the art, would not cut a person's hair on Monday (I have already mentioned [?]).
4. Rain in the beginning of Friday or in the end of Saturday meant 'broken' weather.
5. Paring one's nails on Sunday is as bad as eating meat on Friday.
6. "Saturday's moon seven years too soon" i.e. a new moon on Saturday meant bad weather.
7. People always blessed themselves when they saw the new moon for the first time.
8. When moon has a "toothache" or is "lying on its back" it is a sign of bad weather.
8a. A pig is never slaughtered on Friday.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
