On St. John's Night people visit Holy Wells and light bonfires in honour of St. John.
On Hallows Eve night people have great feasting. They have apples, sweets, nuts, and barm-bracks. - In most districts many feasts are observed in a special manner as they occur each year.
On St. Stephen's Day boys and girls go around from house to house collecting money and singing the wren's song. They carry a decorated holly bush with them. The money is spent in buying apples, sweets and oranges.
On May morning people used to wash their faces with the dew and it was said that they would not get a cold for the year.
