The vegetables they used were parsnips, turnips, cabbage, and nettles. Nettles were taken as a cure in the month of May. Eggs were also eaten on Easter Sunday. The people who take plain common food are much healthier and stronger than those who take too many luxuries. In some homes before retiring at night they used oaten meal and milk called porridge or "skilley" In days gone by it was a great treat for people to get tea, at Christmas and at Easter.- Bailitheoir
