    castle is also famous as the place where the great poet David O Brouder wrote his immortal verses to help the Irish people to keep alive the spirit of patriotism.
    There is a ancient ruin of a castle near Broadford called Killoghelehan. It is now preserved like all the other ruins. There is a very old remains of a tomb at the left hand side of the Altar and the device it bears shows it marks the grave of some great person.
    It belonged to the monastry of Kells like Tullylease and Cloncrew. This old church was abandoned at the time of Queen Elizabeth. It was dedicated to the Blessed Virgin and its feast day was August 5th.
    There is a story told about Killogholehan church there were some people saving hay near the church, when one of them said who drink the wine off the altar of the church one woman said she would do it and she went in and
