the ground the seed is picked out, and put in sprouting boxes to sprout for the following Spring.
The neighbours help each other by spreading the potatoes in the Spring-time, and they lend horses to each other to plough between the drills.
When the potatoes are over ground they are covered with earth from the (from) frost, and as the stalks grow bigger they are wed.
In Summer they are sprayed, that the blight may not effect them. In Autumn they are dug with a potato digger.
The potatoes are picked by both men and women.
Some pick them in buckets and baskets, and others pick them in bag aprons.
The potatoes are put into pits, and covered with straw and earth, to protect them from the frost and rain.
