  1. This parish Ballygran was formerly called Corcomohide
    Mo Ide (?) called after St Ita of West Limerick
    Béal Átha Grean - the mouth of the gravel ford. The ford was about a mile from the village across the River Maigue.
    West of Ballygran we find Gortroe and Gurteen, the little field and the red field.
    West of Castletown we have Rossmore - the big wood and east of Ballygran Rossbane, the white wood.
    Coolagown - the corner of the smith is west of Ballygran as is Ballyouliffe.
    The old people say this name is that of a Dane named Olaf who lived there.
    South of Ballygran we find Baile an Fhile. The poet was one Gorman. The old people quote some
