    folded during the day and used as a seat. It occupied the end of the kitchen, farthest from the door.
    The front of the chimney was often made of clay and wattles. Half- doors were common in this district. A turf fire, blazed at the gable end of the house. Sometimes sticks were burned also. They used get light from two reeds, made into the shape of a cross. Then a wick was placed in it and light it with a piece of steel rubbed against a stone. It used stay lighting for about 10 minutes, then they would light another.
    There is a very old house situated in the Cappagh district. It is built over 400 years. The occupants of it presently is Miss Cooke. It is two storey high consisting of ten bed rooms, dining
