room, drawing room, library, lounge, pantry, dairy and maids hall. The roof of it is slated. The dining room and drawing room are nicely furnished with carvings done by Miss Cooke’s mother, with a penknife on a plain piece of wood. This house is said to be haunted, because several times steps were heard from the hall in to the kitchen and yet nobody was ever seen. Though the old houseS lacked some of the comforts of the modern house, they excelled many of them, as regards neatness.
