- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)late and my mother had to come to meet us. As we were nearing our own boreen we heard an awful noise as of horses and cars coming towards us. It kept coming and coming a most awful thundering noise,we thought the thing should pass on every minute but we stood for a long time expecting, we knew not what. At length a great, big, lumbering car swept past, but did not continue on the road as we could not hear it going on.
My father was working (tailoring) at the far end of the parish and was returning home by the same road as we came & was not very far behind us and he did not meet the car. He heard a noise as of a great-heavy car and horses but going in the other direction.
Many a time I have heard that same car pass the main road at midnight.
