  1. Count John De Salis who was a native of Switzerland, was the local land Lord of this district about 30 years. He first came into possession of the land after the death of his father. He was counted a very good landlord. He lived in Lough Gur. House, now in the possession of Colonel Gallaway.
    His agents were moslty from the north of Ireland. Some of his agents were: - Hart, Philgate and a man by the name of Foley. Foley who was the worst of the agents was riding one day on horse. back in the Paddock Hill and his horse dashed against a tree and he was killed. While Count De Salis was Landlord he took possession of the bogs, castles and lakes and old castles. At present he has some of the bogs, lakes and old castles in his possession.
