- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)There were two rights which the landlord kept for himself. They were the game right and the fishing right.
About the year 1900 the Irish Land Commissioners bought out the land from Mr.Minchin. They gave him a large sum of money for the land. The tenants who before paid rent to the Landlord now paid it to the Land Commissioners.
Once a tenant went to Mr Minchin for a reduction in his rent. Mr.Minchin said he would give him a reduction if he was at work with him at seven o'clock for nine mornings in succession. The man did this and was granted his request. The people say that Mr.Minchin was one of the kindest landlords in Ireland.
Mr Minchin died on the first of May 1916 and was much regretted in the district. He is buried in Coolbawn churchyard. His wife was one of the O'Reilly's of Brefney.
