In olden times the farmers made their own flour from wheat, oats and barley. Oaten bread was made from ground oats from which the fibre was taken off and they made bread from the oats. Wheaten bread was made from wheat they used sift the ground wheat and take the husks from it. Barm bread was made from potatoes they washed and peeled them and grated them into a large basin passed them through a sieve then they took the juice and added soft water, salt, and barm and mixed it with flour and kept it near the fire.- Bailitheoir
