- There are different kinds of herbs. Some herbs are very harmful to land and crop. Others are used for cures and others are poisonous.
Herbs that harm land and crops are called weeds such as chicken weed thistles nettles and "praiseac buidhe". herbs used for cures are, dandelion, heather, hoarhmind, marsh mallow, ground ivy, penny leaf, dock leaf, "locail", "slanlus", "cluas laog" and St Patrick's leaf. The principal poisonous herb is hemlock or "meacan a tathú". Chicken weed chokes the crops and grows in wet soil.
