  1. We have a churn at home. It is two feet tall, and end over end "Wade", number five churn.
It is four feet ten inches from top to bottom.
    Our churn is oval shaped.
It is about fifteen years old. The various parts are called the stand, handle, and barrel.
On the side of the churn there is a hole with a plug in it for letting the buttermilk out; one the lid there is a valve for letting out the steam, and on the bottom there is a place for putting in hot water in Winter, so that it may heat up the milk. The butter is made four times a week in Summer, and about three times a week in winter.
My mother does the churning. Strangers who come in do help at the churning they say "I'll take a brash, and put the weight of myself of butter in it."
They take a turn, and sometimes a couple becuase the people might say they would take the butter out with them if they did not help.
The churning takes usually an hour.
