- There are two forges in the Parish.
The smiths names are Mr. Tom Kerr, and the other is Mr. John King.
They are smiths all their lives.
The forges are situated one in Darver and the other in Manfieldstown.
The one in Darver is near a river and the one in Manfieldstown is at the cross road.
The forge is a shed with a door on the front and it is built of stone.
The roof is sometimes made of wood.
The door has a horse shoe on it or on the floor.
There is one fireplace in it.
The bellows is an implement which the smith has and it is made of wood and leather and it is worked by a handle.
The bellows are not made locally.
The implements the black smith uses are, hammer, chisel, nails, anvil, tongs, and bellows.
The smith shoes horses, asses, but he does not shoe cattle.
The implements he makes himself are ploughs, harrows, and other small things.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
