- My Home Townland.
The name of the townland in which I live in is Knockabbey.
There are nine families containing about thirty seven people.
There are no two families having the same name. Knockabbey castle is the largest building in the townland. There are four storied, two storied and four Government houses, they are roofed with tiles.
There are no thatched houses in this district.
Long ago on a certain hill in the townland the harvest was always ripe first before any other crop in the district and ever since it was called Cnóc aibí or the ripe hill.
The houses were more numerous in former times, the ruins were knocked down and the stones put into use.
There are two people over seventy in this townland, their names are,
Mrs Mc Ardle,
Knockabbey,
Louth,
Co. Louth.
Mrs Rafferty,
Knockabbey,
Louth,
Co. Louth.
These women can speak broken Irish and can tell stories in English.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
