- Near the chapel opposite Tom Carthy's there lived a family named Kearney. They had a public house and had three children. John Smyth's Grandfather used to sell them three stills of poteen every year.
Years before Mrs Kearney got a pot of gold from the fairies and she had it buried in Pat Hussey's field for fear of burglers.
A man from Longford dremt about this gold three nights in succesion. So he decided to go and he brought two pals with him. The man knew the public house well for he had got some drink in it before this.
