A man named Dermot Murtagh is said to have crossed the lake in the middle of the storm.
Nearly every tree in the woods of Knock Ross and Knock Body were knocked. The remains of the trees are still to be seen.
Thirty-five years ago a very disasterous wind occurred in this district. An iron roof was blown off a shed and a tree about three feet wide knocked.
