- Marriages most frequently take place in this district before Shrove or in the months of June and July.
It is thought unlucky to get married in the month of May and the days thought unlucky are Friday and Saturday.
Money is sometimes given as a dowry to those who are getting married but stock and goods are not given.
On the wedding day when the married couple are coming out of the Chapel it is usual in this district to throw rice and confetti at them. It is a custom in this district for the bride to wear :-
"Something old and something new,
Something borrowed and something blue".
When they are leaving in a motor car it is usual to throw old boots and shoes after them.
