- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)was is always called Common's hill in the district.St Peter and Paul's feast-day is the "Pattern Day" of the district and on that day the people used to collect at Donore Crossroads and there were dancing and singing competitions, races and plenty of fights. They finished up every Pattern Day by using the sticks. An old saying which is often used in this district is,
"Twelve o'clock and not a stroke struck yet."Halloween is another feast which is celebrated in the district by the grownups as well as by the younger folks. The grown-ups go around and tie all the doors of the houses and steal the gates. These are usually found in the neighbouring field and the people find in the morning that they have to climb out through the window to open the doors. It is usual to have a barm brack on that night and to put a ring in it. The person who gets the ring is told that he will be married first.- Bailitheoir
