- In olden times the people ate three meals a day, namely breakfast, dinner, and supper. Breakfast was eaten about nine oclock and dinner was partaken of at one. The supper was usually eaten about six oclock and then there was no more food eaten till the next morning. The old people worked early in the morning before having food. The breakfast consisted of oat-meal porridge and new milk and oaten bread. Potatoes and buttermilk were eaten for dinner. For supper the food was the same as for breakfast.There was no table at all used for meals
