- There are many animals about the farm. These animals consist of, cattle, horses, sheep, pigs and goats. The cows have no particular names but we distinguish them by their colours. The cows are driven in and out of a field by shouting "How-up"! "How-up!" The calves are driven in the same way.
The cow-house or byre as the old people call it is a long whitewashed stable. The cows are tied to the manger by means of a chain. They are usually tied by the neck but the legs of a kicking cow are tied. This form of tying is called "spancelling." the cow.
The horse-stable is a high stabe with a loft on top to hold the hay. There is a manger in one corner. The horse is fed on hay and oats and(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
