- Almost a century has elapsed since there was a Landlord in Moyvoughly, and since then the townland has been owned by a gentleman who lived in a large estate about half a mile south of the village. This gentleman employed many hands, and he built house for the herds of his land, which were free from rent and taxation.
As Far as can be remembered, the last landlord of this village was a man named Charles O'Donoghue. This gentleman was a very kind-hearted and generous landlord and he was very well liked in this district. Mr. O'Donoghue was not like some of the landlords of his times and the cruelty and ingenuity of some is not easily forgotten in some districts not far from Moyvoughly.
In a village called Loughmavally about nine miles north of this townland Landlord Hamilton was feared by all its inhabitants. Evictions were no uncommon events during his time. He evicted fifty families practically all the families in the same townland.
THis terrible even took place shortly after the great famine of 1847 and '48. The(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
