    2. A variation of this cure is to point the nine thorns to the stye every morning for nine mornings.
    3. The person suffering from the stye moistens some ashes on the hearth with his spittle before he breaks his fast. He rubs the ashes round the stye three times in honour of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
