- At the battle of Ballinamuck the Irish were defeated. When one of the Irish soldiers was flying two English soldiers followed him with horses. When he was going up at Bandra he was wounded. He was a great runner and he went as far as the Kilmahon bog. He lay along the ditch and when the people got him the next morning he was dead. He was a tailor and in his pocket the people got a needle and scissors. He was buried in McGuires field and his grave is marked by a large heap of stones.
