    Clothes Made Locally

    There are four tailors and four dressmakers in my district of Granard, Co. Longford. Long ago when a person wanted to have a suit of clothes made the tailor would come to his house to take his measure.
    The clothes were made then by hand as there were no machines. Linen towels and all sorts of clothes were spun and woven.
    About sixty years ago there lived a woman in the townland of Granardkille, in the parish of Granard, Co. Longford, named "Fannie Flemming", and she was a dressmaker. She was able to make a coat or frock in two days, and she sewed all by her hand, and on a good
