Churning
I have a churn at home and the height of it is three feet six inches and the width of it is two feet three inches. There are many old superstitions in connection with it.It is said that if a man came in to light his pipe on May morning and the women of the house churning she would not let him light the pipe because he would take the butter. If a person went to the well and when he or she would have a bucket of water lifted They would leave a bundle of sticks at the step of the well Then they would get a hay rope and put ten knots on it and drag it while the dew is on the grass and they pick posies with the left hand(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
