The mare's houses are called the mare's stables. They are large with a manger in each of them. They are separate houses. We put St Brigid's crosses in the roof of each of them. They are fed on hay oats, and carrots. The local blacksmith shoes them. My father has a mare that pulled a thresher from the head of the lane up to my own house up the hill.
