- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)"Rinnce-an-awl" on a fine Summer's evening while a gentle breeze wafted past from the pleasant waters of the Lordly Shannon. Before coming within sight of St Martin's well I was pointed out the two "Langeens" just at the entrance to the bay at the head of which stood the object of our journey. These "Langeens" "the big one" and "the little one" despite the whirligig of time still stand as on the morning of (?) to remind us of a dim and distant past.
Gata n-Uisge reached the whole panorama, in the midst of which is St Martin's well, was unfolded to the view.
Close to the altar and firmly rooted in the ground is a large limestone boulder on the top of which is the apparent impress of a human foot though much larger in size than that of the normal human being.
The action of the winters' frost greatly alleviated my pleasant task and in a few moments the "track" was scraped clean and a mustard tin half filled with fragments which were destined (?) to travel half the globe.- Bailitheoir
