   The only old people living now are Mr and Mrs Rick. They cannot speak Irish but they can tell many old stories in English. Both of them live in Boolabawn.
   Most of the houses are thatched but nearly all the cottages are slated except the new ones. In the dsitrict in former times there were about twice as many houses as are in it now, the cause of this was that the people emigrated to other countries and left their houses so that after a few years they were in complete ruins.
   The land is very fertile with the exception of a few fields.
   About two miles from Killurin station there is a wood called Carrigmannon. This wood is said to be the most beautiful wood in the district. There is also a river near this wood called the Slancy. This river rises in
