I heard a story once about a leipreachan
Once a leipreachan was caught by a man named Frank Boggan on the moate of Ballyamon. He was two feet in height and he wore a red cap and a green cloak. He held the leipreachan tightly and made it tell him where some money was.
After a long time the leipreachan brought the man to an eleven-acre field and drove down a peg in the ground where the money was supposed to be.
The man went and got help to dig for the money night but when they went the field was full of pegs. They dug where it was. They were not long digging till a bull chased them with fire in his eyes.
It is said that there were three mermaids in 1907 down at Courtown Harbour and that one of them got a broken arm and then the others stayed on a rock waiting for the other one to get well.Told by Thomas Kavanagh
