- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)People used to help each other at this work. A few from each house helped the neighbours, and they in return helped them. The wool from the sheep was woven much the same way. The socks were knitted from this yarn or wool. Sometimes it was dyed or left white as taken from the sheep. The old custom of weaving has long ceased in this locality. There are no spinning-wheels to be seen now, but some people have a remnant of one yet as a keep-sake.Candle Making:People never used to buy candles long ago as they do now. They made their own candles from rushes. The rushes were cut before they were browned. Then they were peeled with just a small bit of skin left on one side. They were dried beside the fire and when thoroughly dried they were dipped in a grease called tallow. Some people had not this grease so they used ordinary grease.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
