    It was said by old people that two men were told about a crock of gold being hid in a cave in this hill. When they were going to look for it they were to bring a cock with them and when they would get first sight of the gold they were to kill the cock quickly.
    So they dug for a time and at last got sight of the crock of gold, and went to kill the cock, but they were not quick enough in catching him, and a big black dog leaped out from behind the crock of gold, and frightened the cock. The men got afraid and ran away, so it is said that the gold remains there still.
