Ar an leathanach seo

  1. There are four smithys in the parish. There are two in the village of Shinron and two in Ballingarry. John Clear, games director, Mike Kavanagh and Pat Delahunty. Kavanaghs have been smiths for many years and so have Delahunts, The forges are situated near cross-roads and wells or pumps and streams.
    The forge is one storey high the roof is tiled. he door is made of wood. It is wide and high, there is one fireplace, it is built of bricks and about three feet high and near the gable end of the forge. The bellows it's a big triangle shaped implement made of iron, wood and canvas, they are not made locally. The smiths shoe horses, ponies, donkeys but not cattle.
    The implements he uses are - the bellows, anvil sledge, hammer, vice, threader, rasp, pincers, tongs, nails and the knife. The water in the forge which he uses for cooling the hot implements can cure warts and the burned coal can cure chill-
