- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)used here was turf and bog deal. The bog deal is very plentiful and it is an excellent fuel.
Candles were made locally here and were the most common means of giving light. A certain kind of a lamp was also made for ceilidhing in the long Winters night.
A long stout piece of bog oak was procured around this a piece of some very strong material was wrapped as tightly and as securely as possible. This was dipped in tar and lit. It showed a very bright light and lasted for several hours.
Beds were very common in the kitchens in olden times. They were quite convenient to the fire and placed along the side-walls. Also settle beds were used which could be changed into a chair in the daytime. Mostly the very old people of the house who occupied these beds.- Bailitheoir
