   When two teams were arranged for a match and one side did not turn up they were fined five pounds. On another occasion a match was played between the Castletara Sarsfields and the Redhill team called the Emmets. The result of this was the Sarsfields won by three points. The Sarsfields won the fame on the field. No one in the district remembers the ball being kicked across the country from one townland to another. The ball used was much larger than the one used at the present time.
   A hurley team was never formed in this district. On a Sunday evening the young men of the district used to assemble at a certain field and a game called
